Lorie Olds – Midwife

My Own Midwife GC are very proud and excited to welcome Midwife Lorie Olds to our team. Many of you will have met Lorie while she was completing her Midwifery education with us over the last two years. Check out Lorie`s biography below:

” I completed my midwifery degree in a continuity of care model at My Own Midwife GC and am so grateful to continue working in this model of care. It is truly humbling to be able to build strong rapport, while offering women and their family’s individual support and a known face throughout one of their most empowering and life changing events.

Throughout my midwifery training I was fortunate to experience births in many settings including water birth and homebirth while supporting women to utilise hypnobirthing, active birth and aromatherapy.

In providing partnership and woman-centred care to each woman over the duration of her pregnancy, I believe she is empowered to explore and gain the confidence and knowledge in her body’s abilities, while carrying these skills and strength with her through motherhood. Continuity between a midwife and woman has many proven benefits for all, including strong relationships of ongoing and open communication, collaboration and shared life experiences.

I believe that midwifery found me and to be a midwife is to learn continuously. I strive to provide evidence-based practice for all women while respecting the traditions of midwifery that pregnancy and birth are a normal, yet life changing, event.

My philosophy is about advocating and supporting women to make informed choices to achieve the birth they imagine. I wholeheartedly believe in holistic care and that empowered mothers strengthen families, communities and generations to come.

In my spare time I love cooking, baking, good coffee, gardening, sewing and knitting along with sustainable living and spending quality time with my husband, family and friends.”
